Hi I'm Steven

I'm from Aloha, Oregon, I laugh at all the wrong moments, I love the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in beautiful Portland, Oregon and I love it! I grew up an hour from the beach in one direction and a mountain an hour in the other direction; how lucky can a guy get? I love the outdoors, listening to anything that I can sing along with, and I'm a die-hard fan of the NBA (go Blazers!). I'm currently going to school at BYU-Idaho nestled in the middle-of-nowhere Rexburg, Idaho, and am studying Accounting. I returned from my mission in Edmonton, Alberta in September 2013 and I miss it dearly! I come from a family of five loud kids and two extremely supportive parents. I've been beyond blessed in my life and couldn't be happier with the things the Lord has blessed me with!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I'm happy being a Mormon. Life is hard regardless of who you are, and I know living the commandments has brought me the happiness I enjoy. I was lucky enough to be born into the church, and growing up going to church was always just what I did. At some point though, all of us have to branch off from the testimonies of those around us and find out for ourselves if what we're doing is right. I'm a Mormon not because it's how I was raised, but because I've received the answer that this church is Jesus Christ's true church, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I've felt the Holy Ghost too many times in my life to deny it, and I know that this is the path that my Heavenly Father wants for me and all of His children. I have such a strong testimony of prayer and that our Heavenly Father loves and cares about each of us individually. I've felt that as I've prayed throughout my life and received answers. I'm so grateful for the gospel and the blessing it is to have the knowledge that I do.

How I live my faith

Put simply, our goal in life is to become like our Savior, and that's something that I try to do every day! Being part of this church means that we're asked to keep quite a few commandments that some people would consider "restrictive", but I know that we're commanded to do things by our Heavenly Father so that He can in turn bless us for obeying Him. I've come to believe that the more that I obey, the happier I am. I'm not perfect, no one is, but it's a comfort to know that as long as I try, I'm doing what my Savior expects of me. As I also read from the Book of Mormon daily, I not only show my faith, but my faith in my Savior increases.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Steven
The fact that I'm here! Maybe I'm not skeptical enough, but I feel like life is too intricate to be an accident. Without a knowledge of where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going, I wouldn't have the hope that I do. It's that hope that keeps me going and gives me the desire and motivation to live a good life and treat others with respect! Show more Show less
