Hi I'm Derrick Hyde

I'm from a little town in Utah. I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just one of those average joes that loves life. I have a great family. I think back to all the happy moments in my life and they were when I was with my family. Because of those wonderful times, I look forward to having a family of my own. I love going on vacations with my family and going to all sorts of places. I love sports. Growing up I played football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse and track. The sport that I absolutely love is baseball. Staying active is a great way to live life. In my spare time I also enjoy watching movies. The most important thing to me though is how I live my faith.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life I held on to my parents testimonies and I wasn't really converted. There finally came a time when I needed to know for myself. I needed my own witness and my own testimony of the things I had learned growing up. I knew the only way that I was going to gain that witness was to ask God and pray. This was the first time in my life where I really prayed. I needed to know. For a while I didn't receive an answer but I knew this was a trial of my faith so I kept praying. One night, my friends and I decided to watch a film about Joseph Smith. This film was all about the life of Joseph Smith and the trials he went through. As I was watching the persecution and challenges that Joseph faced, an overwhelming feeling of peace and warmth filled my body. I knew I was feeling the Spirit but was this an answer to my prayers? As soon as I was alone, I took the opportunity to pray and ask God if what I felt was my answer. I asked if Joseph Smith truly was a Prophet of God. Again, I felt an overwhelming feeling of happiness and I knew it was my answer. It was at that point I knew the church was true. Since then I have had experiences that have confirmed that answer. I have read the Book of Mormon and know it is the Word of God. I know that there is a living prophet on the earth and he leads and guides us. The fullness of the Gospel is back. It has been restored. Now let's bring the world His truth.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in San Jose, California. This is a great way that I live my faith. I help others learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I help others come unto Christ. As I have been out, I have been able to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ change the lives of people. I bring them the opportunity to find greater happiness and peace that I have found in my life. The greatest moments of my life have been seeing people accept the Gospel and truly find what they have been searching for. I help others repent and make the necessary changes in their lives to come in closer harmony with Christ's teachings. As I have helped others, I have noticed that I have changed personally. I have grown emotionally and spiritually. My testimony of the Restored Gospel is so strong that I cannot deny it. It is something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It will be the foundation on which I raise my family and continue to live my life.
