Hi I'm Tommie

I am an ex-major league Baseball player and business owner. I spent 8 years in the Major Leagues.

About Me

I am a convert to the LDS religion of some 40 years. I have run my own business, title insurance, and continued to remain active in sports. I am an avid golfer who plays several times a week. Sports has been the made drive of my life. I am competitive in all aspects of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am truly a family man, and I believe that we have the sealing power to unite me with my family, past and present, for eternity. If that is the case, then our sealing powers must originate from God and his son Jesus Christ. I believe that a loving God would want us to have this blessing and would provide us with the vehicle to accomplish it. I know there are millions of wonderful kind people in the world, who work hard to serve and help their fellowman, but I know that there is only one church with the power to link all this together. That church is the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This church is conducted and directed under the guidance of Jesus Christ, and how can he do this? The way he has always done it, through Prophets and Apostles with authority that has been restored in these latter days.

How I live my faith

Since joining the Church I have served in many compasities, but there is nothing more rewarding or fun than spending time with the young people. Our church opens so many options for the youth and their futures. I found a long time ago that no matter how you feel about yourself, if you open up yourself to helping and serving others your problems seem to melt quickly away. I love to speak to people where ever I meet them and share a smile. Almost everyone without exception responds to a friendly hello and smile. I believe that is an attribute my faith gives me.

What is being a Mormon like?

Tommie
Being a Mormon is a wonderful way of life. I brings families together and brings joy into the home. Who wouldn't want a better family atmosphere. Our religion is based around Jesus Christ and the family. Wow, it can't get much better than this. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Tommie
You know this is troubling characterization of people about the Mormon religion. The name of our church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". I repeat the church of Jesus Christ. Why do some people think we are not Christians? Is it because we believe that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are all separate? It is difficult to read the Bible wherein Christ prays to his heavenly father and not think they are separate beings. It is tough to read where the Holy Ghost descends on Christ at his baptism and not think they are separate beings. Yes we are most surely Christians with a deep and abiding love for all three of the God head. Our worship is always directed to our elder brother and savior Jesus Christ for he is the way to the father and life eternal. Show more Show less
