Hi I'm Kyle Felkins

I'm serving a mission in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida sepaking Haitian Creole. I love music and at college, I studied Vocal Performance

About Me

Presently, I'm serving a mission for the church in Florida speaking Hatian Creole. I love Florida (even if it is really humid). I love the Church and I am sooooooo excited to be here, in Florida talking about it with so many wonderful people. Before coming to Florida, I was studying music in vocal performance. I hope someday to make a career singing. I also play the viola, and I find a lot of joy in that as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that I would have nothing without Heavenly Father. He gave me my voice and my ability to understand music, he gave me my family, he gave me my friends, and he gives me everything good thing that I have, big and small. He wants the best for me, and all the hard things that I have to go through are there to help me become stronger and happier in the long run, and he can help get through anything. I'm so grateful to know that I can live with my family forever. It's such a comfort to know that there is a reason to live on the Earth; that I'm not here by chance or that there is no real for life. God is watching me and loves me because, before anything else, I am his child. He has a plan for me to help me become so much more than I can ever become on Earth. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know the happiness in changing your heart through the Atonement. I use it everyday. It's such a comfort and there is no better feeling than knowing that my Savior knows my name and exactly what I need and that he is walking beside me. I know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. It is a wonderful guide and it holds revelation for us from our Father in Heaven. It teaches me about the Savior and how to be the best that I can be. I know that Christ visited the people in that book, and I know that the words in the book teach of the him and help us come unto him, and do as he directs: Come follow me. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Most recently, I am very excited to be serving a mission. I'm so happy to do as the Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, asks us to do because I know that he receives revelation from our Father in Heaven. It so rewarding for me to follow the council of the Prophet, his apostles, and the other leaders of the Church. I love to sing songs about the Savior and the hymns of the Church. I have found that music is such a powerful tool in helping us feel closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. When you have the opportunity to sing a hymn or a song about the Savior, you can really feel his love and the importance of his work. I hope that someday, I will bring people closer to the reality of Christ's sacrifice through music, because it has really helped me to get to know Jesus Christ better, and that makes me very happy in turn. I've found a lot of gratification if being able to use a gift that God has blessed me with. I want to be the best singer I can be because God was so kind in giving me such a powerful tool that has made a huge difference in my life. I believe that every person on earth is blessed with a gift, a talent, from our Father in Heaven, and I'm so grateful that I can live in a world with so many talented people. In the scriptures we are told to let our light so shine before men. There are so many talents that can be used for good, and when we use them righteously, we can shine for the world in ways that will please our Heavenly Father and serve his children.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Kyle Felkins
A testimony is an outward expression of beliefs. The Holy Ghost touches is in our hearts, and we come to know a truth about the church through scripture study and prayer. We bare testimony of those things that we come to know when the Spirit touches our hearts. The necissary parts of a sharing a testimony are: Christ's Atonement and that he lives, of the restoration of the church, of the love of our Heavenly Father and that he lives, that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God and there is a living prophet on the earth today. We express the knowledge we have that the chruch is Christ's church on the earth today. Show more Show less
