Hi I'm Rebecca Carter

Singing and shopping are my expertise. I am currently serving a mission in Milan, Italy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up near the beach I have always enjoyed watching and playing volleyball. I played volleyball my freshmen year of high school and loved that experience. My junior year in high school I decided to join an all girls choir at my school and loved it even more than volleyball. I realized that this was a new passion of mine and I should try to pursue it the rest of my high school career. So by the end of my junior year in high school I decided to audition for my school's advanced choir, and made it. I'm so grateful to have had that class my last year of high school because I realized that I wanted to pursue something with music when I leave for college in the fall. I'm am going to being studying music education hoping to teach elementary children about music and help them to learn to love music as I have.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reason's I am mormon. Recently I attended my first semester of college, through this I finally began to realize why I am a mormon. At school I was trying to decide whether or not I wanted to serve a mission for the Lds (mormon) church. So during this process I began to read the Book of Mormon and I began to study it like I hadn't before. I also began to be more frequent with my personal prayers. While this was happening I began to realize that my testimony of the Book of Mormon and prayer were increasing. One Sunday at church a talk from General Conference was mentioned and after hearing the message pertained in the talk I knew without a doubt in my mind that I needed to serve a mission for my church. I recently received my mission call in the mail and I am going to serve in the Italy Milan mission. I am a mormon because I want to share the joy I feel with others so they too may feel that same joy. One of the biggest reasons I have chosen to be a member is because of the plan of salvation. We believe that because Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, we will be able to live with our families forever. I know that if we pray with an open heart and mind we will find an answer to our question even if it is not the answer we expected to receive. I know the Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith translated it by the power and authority of God. I know we have have a modern day prophet who leads and guides us and gives us modern day revelation for our day and age.

How I live my faith

Even though I am still young I have had many different opportunities to serve the girls that are my age. Every sunday I conduct the girls from the age of 12 to 18 and tell them different announcements for the week, welcome visitors, recite the young women's theme, choose some to say the prayer, someone to play the piano, and someone to lead the music.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Rebecca Carter
In Matthew 28:19 it says, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations". Not all Mormons are not required to serve a mission, but generally men serve at the age of 18 or 19 years old and they serve for 2 years. While the women serve from about the age of 19 to 21 years old for only 18 months. Missions are a service where mormon members take a pause in their life to serve and where they do not get paid for their service. Show more Show less
