Hi I'm Roman

I'm from Utah and I'm trying to find something good to do with my life. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I played the trumpet for ten years but I gave that up to try and learn guitar. I draw, paint, read, write, and play chess (online mostly). Sometimes I'm too passionate about these things but I think one of the purposes of art is to help us appreciate the good and the beautiful. Sometimes we don't want to be happy but artistic things help us to "keep on the sunny side". Happiness requires faith, and faith leads to good works. My favorite artists are Thomas Gainsborough and rococo artists like Fragonard. I like musical artists like Brian Eno and Spacemen 3, and my favorite song is Bittersweet Symphony. My favorite authors are Oscar Wilde, Dostoevsky, and Goethe. I like the book Dr. Zhivago. My favorite chess players are Capablanca and Spassky. I usually play king's pawn games :)

Why I am a Mormon

Two of my favorite aphorisms from the Savior are "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." - Matthew 15:11 and "...with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." - Matthew 7:2. These saying help me deal with the things people do and say around me and they make me want to give more to my fellow men. I believe that all children of God are equal and that God is no respector of persons. I believe that most sorrow and pain is temporal. The only eternal sources of sorrow are sin and the bittersweet knowledge of what my Savior was made to suffer on my behalf. Ultimately, I know that all the joy I feel in this life was made possible by the blood of Christ. He willingly gave up joy and comfort so I could have it. That is how I know His love for me and all His children is endless. He bought me with His love! I am a Latter-Day Saint because it is clear from reading the Bible that this is the church of Christ. The gifts of the Holy Ghost which the early church enjoyed are in this church. The work the Lord did through Joseph Smith and every latter-day prophet is marvelous. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. The Holy Ghost has confirmed these truths to me.

How I live my faith

I try to constantly increase my faith in Jesus Christ by bringing my life more in line with the will of God through prayer, scripture study, and service.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Roman
We keep our bodies pure and clean trusting God that if we do so He will give us His happiness in His way, through the comfort of the Holy Ghost. So many of the things a person might turn to in order to find temporal relief from sadness end up decreasing that person's ability to feel real joy in the future. In times of sadness we should turn to God in faith through prayer, patiently waiting until God restores peace to our lives. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Roman
For me faith began when I realized something was missing in my life. I turned to God through prayer and through reading the Book of Mormon. From the promises made in the Book of Mormon of peace and blessings from God I decided that if I followed God's commandments in faith I could receive the things that felt missing from my life. The Book of Mormon taught me the things I needed to change in order to receive God's promised blessings. I needed help to change so I turned to Jesus Christ believing that because he suffered my sins and overcame them, he could give me strength to overcome my problems. The more I sought after God and game myself to him the more I was rewarded with peace and understanding of my purpose here. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Roman
Mormon women are beautiful, virtuous, intelligent, confident, and funny. I really like Mormon women. Show more Show less
