Hi I'm Katie

I'm a high school student, an older sister, and a daughter of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently enrolled in a magnet school program focusing on Environmental Science. I love animals with all my heart. Some of my hobbies are reading, writing, playing piano, and painting my nails. I love babysitting and children. Ice cream is my favorite food in the world and I'm a marine mammal fanatic. I have two younger brothers, a parakeet, and tons of fish. I love life and the joy that the gospel brings me.

Why I am a Mormon

The process of building my testimony and love for His church has taken my whole life. It did not all come in one church class, but over years and years of small blessings building up to form an unshakable faith. I have searched and asked to know if the church is true, and the answer is yes. I have felt my Savior's love. It is the sweetest feeling I have ever known. Nothing could ever compare to how beautiful Heavenly Father's plan is. God loves each and every one of us, and knows us all by name. His only wish is our happiness. He wants more than anything for us to return to live with Him, but we cannot do it alone. I know that our Savior atoned for our sins so it would be possible to become clean again. Not only did He take upon Himself our transgressions, He also carried our burdens and bore every sorrow. We are never alone. No matter what happens to us, He has felt it and holds the key to our healing. All we need to do is ask. He loves us infinitely, and is always listening.

How I live my faith

My dad is the second counselor in my ward, which means my family is pretty involved with, well, everything! One of my favorite things to do is visit with the widows in my ward. They all have such wonderful stories to tell and I always come away with something new. I am also currently the secretary for my Young Women's class, so I spend a lot of time with the girls my age. I love serving others in my ward, particularly through babysitting. I often do it for free so the parents can attend the temple. The gospel brings me an insurmountable feeling of joy that I wouldn't let go of for anything. It is the only thing that keeps me happy.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Katie
When we are baptized, our sins are washed away because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He died for us so that we could be made clean again. We also take the name of Christ upon us when we are baptized, so that all we do is in His name and He is always with us. Baptism is also a covenant with God. We promise that we will do all that we can to be Christ-like until the end of our lives. In return, Heavenly Father promises that our sins will be forgotten and that we'll be able to return to live with Him, as long as we uphold our promises. Show more Show less
