Hi I'm David Word

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I love to be outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid outdoorsman and even work at an outdoor store. I have spent a good portion of my life in the backwoods of Zion and Yosemite National Parks, the mountains of Nevada, and the canyons of Central Utah. Some of my favorite things to do outdoors are to rock climb, backpack, hunt, shoot, camp, ride rivers, and just enjoy the wonderful creation that God the Father has given us through his Son. I have also lived my life through my commitment to sports and school. I have participated in numerous sports since my youth and played football and soccer, and wrestled and swam in high school. After my mission I will try to continue in my passion for swimming in college.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because The Gospel gives me hope. One day I looked up the definition of the word "gospel" and one meaning is literally "good news". Through my experiences, downfalls, and strengths, I have learned that the good news of this Gospel is that everything will work out and I will be able to live with my family forever, which is what I look forward to most.

How I live my faith

Growing up, I served in various young mens' callings, many of which carried over to the Boy Scouts of America. As many know, scouting is the service arm of the Priesthood, and I agree wholeheartedly. Because of this, I live my faith through service for others. My love for serving has inspired me to serve a mission, and I depart for Ghana in just over a month from now.
