Hi I'm Devin

I grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado. I enjoy coaching the youth, and learn as much from them as they do from me. I am a Mormon.

About Me

In High School I began playing lacrosse in the 9th grade. I became a captain of the team my 11th grade year. I did this along with many clubs, including FBLA, DECA, and NHS. However, lacrosse became my passion and I quickly looked towards colleges that would meet both my intellectual and lacrosse needs. I finally decided to a 4 year college that did both. In school is where I truly developed as a player, and eventually as a Coach. Taking mental notes and learning from my own lacrosse coaches, my IQ grew exponentially. I was given the opportunity to be the head coach for two of my own teams. Coaching is my true passion. I enjoy watching the boys grow and learn. Often they surprise me with their endurance and mental toughness. I would argue that they taught me more about being an hard working athlete then I taught them. In college I picked up many fun hobbies. I enjoy watching football, playing the guitar, hiking, photography, and will go to any local concert that I can. While in college I enjoyed being out in the city -- especially at night -- with my close friends. But free time was limited as I had to focus on my studies and lacrosse, all while working at a restaurant in the city. Most of all, I love my family. I enjoy the time I get to spend with them, and appreciate the love and happiness they bring into my life. They teach me and help me grow every single day. I cannot thank our Heavenly Father enough for giving me the family that he has.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church my entire life. The reason why I am still in it is actually pretty simple. I am a member of the LDS church because of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The overwhelming love that I have felt from God has been indescribable. Every time I go to church, go to the temple, serve others, be with my family, or kneel down to pray, I can feel His love for us. I am a member of this church because it has the best way to bring me closer to our Father in Heaven. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet of God. I remember when I saw him speak live, the feelings was truly remarkable. When he speaks I know it is direction given by God. I cannot express the blessing it is to know that God loves us enough to give us prophets who guide us through every day life. I am a member of this church because I found out for myself that it is true. I prayed, and God answered. Unfortately it was not a quick and easy answer. I had to search for myself and pray for many days. I had to put my heart into the question along with daily effort. It didn't come immediately, but I will never forget when I recieved that answer. I know that God lives, and as He lives He loves us. I have a testimony of that and I am thankful that I know this for myself.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a ward missionary. This includes working with the full time missionaries, but also caring to the needs of the ward members. I enjoy this calling as it forces me to reach out to the community to serve others, especially those outside of the church. I believe this calling how the Lord is preparing me to become a full time missionary. In the past I have served as a president of young mens activities. While I was still young, I was assisted by a leader, and together we discussed the needs and wants of our young men. Through that I learned a lot of leadership, but also how to trust God in the decisions we would make. I learned a lot on how to facilitate the work that the Lord would have us do. Outside of my church "callings" I try to indulge myself in the gospel as much as possible. I wake up early -- at 6 in the morning to be exact -- so that I may exercise and study scriptures. I wake up so early because I feel more productive in the morning, and feel as though God wishes me to take care of myself through physical exercise. I am in charge of giving gospel related lessons every Monday to my family. We discuss topics such as prayer, how to have faith in hard times, and looking for blessings from our Heavenly Father. Along with these activites, I attend church every Sunday. I choose to go every week so that I may worship our Savior, who died for our sins. And I go to the temple as often as I can. Both of these things help me feel closer to God, and help me realize my true potential in God's eyes.
