Hi I'm Clayton

I was born and raised in Cache Valley, Utah. I'm a returned-missionary. I'm a songwriter. I'm Bi. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I enjoy several things pertaining to music and performance such as: playing guitar, writing songs, musical theatre, and ballroom dancing. I started struggling with same gender attraction during high school, and I left the church because I didn't feel worthy to be there. My bishop helped me realize that it is not a sin to have temptation. We cannot control our circumstances or our temptations, but we can control our choices and how we react to them. I have also struggled with depression and anxiety. It sucks! But God can help it suck less. When I realized how much my Heavenly Father and my Savior both loved me, I decided that I could learn to love myself. I think I've done a pretty good job. It is my testimony that God loves us too much to take away our challenges. Instead, He helps give us the strength to overcome them and be happier because of them.

Why I am a Mormon

In my study of the scriptures I came to a conclusion. That either this is God's true church, or there is no God. And I have seen too much to believe that there is no God. And if I am wrong, there is no other religion that I would even want to be true. This gospel has helped me find happiness and peace, two things that seem to be missing from the world today. If nothing else, that makes it worth it.

How I live my faith

I am served in the Washington Seattle Mission. I enjoyed the special opportunity I had to share this gospel everyday. I use the talents God has given me to write music centered around Jesus Christ. I engage in regular scripture study and sincere prayer, to better understand the truths of the gospel through revelation by the Spirit. I actively seek out ways that I can serve those around me.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Clayton
The Book of Mormon was written by several ancient Prophets who lived in the Americas. Their records and writings were compiled by the Prophet Mormon, who passed it on to his son, Moroni, who hid the records to be kept for a later time. This same Moroni appeared as an angel to the Prophet Joseph Smith, and delivered him the record. The record was translated by Joseph Smith, and published as the Book of Mormon Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Clayton
Nope! It's completely optional. We are encouraged to do so from a young age, but the decision is totally up to us. So far, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Clayton
We do what we can to serve everyone, regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual identity, or religious background. We believe in following the example of Jesus Christ by loving and serving all of those around us. Show more Show less
