Hi I'm Hope

I grew up in Utah. I want to study astrophysics. I love writing and art. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently just graduated from high school, and I've finished all my generals in college. I can't wait to start my major, and learn more about physics. Reading is one of my favorite past times, and I enjoy science-fiction, fantasy, thrillers, mysteries, and poetry. I wish to write my own novel some day. I also enjoy pole vaulting, running, knitting, and I'm teaching myself how to bake.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church. Both my parents are Mormon, and so while I was younger it was expected of me to accompany them to church. While I was a teenager though I was given time to explore other religions as well. My parents were never secretive or angered about discussion of other faiths, and any question I had was answered to their best knowledge. I visited a variety of other church meetings, and discussed religion with those of different faiths to understand the differences between the religion I was raised in and their own. I visited a non-denominational church, a Buddhist temple, a Mosque, and I've talked to people who were from these faiths and many others. But none of the other faiths created the depth of feelings and understanding that the LDS church has given me. I continue to be a Mormon because I know that it's Jesus' true church. I feel peace from this church, and it's a peace that I can carry out into the world, and hold sacred to myself.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I'm a teacher. I teach the kids that are seven years old about the basics of our gospel, but it's mostly me who is learning in the class. Up to now, I've mostly only been taught to, and being the one to teach is a whole new ball park. It's given me a unique opportunity to be lead by the spirit. The other days of the week, I live the gospel by striving to do what's right. I pray, and read scriptures, and try to reach out to others who might be in need of service. Sometimes, all I can give is a smile to hopefully make them feel better, but sometimes that's all that is needed.
