Hi I'm Dayna

I'm Florida born and raised. I'm a college student and dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student and dance team member at my University. I love creative writing, hiking, enjoying art, and spending time with my family. I love the beach, fishing, and eating seafood as a Florida girl!

Why I am a Mormon

I've chosen to live my life as a member of the Mormon church because I feel a sense of peace and completeness that living this life brings. I feel the most close to my Savior, Jesus Christ, when I follow the standards of the church and read the Book of Mormon. The gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me overcome difficult obstacles. I know from being in this church that I can do anything with the Lord on my side.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and participate in the women's group in my congregation. I go to a sunday school class once a week with other young adults my age. Recently, I've been preparing to go on a volunteer service mission for 18 months with my church and will go to Utah soon to teach and serve the people there.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Dayna
Yes! We love the Bible and recognize it as scripture from God. The Bible includes the records of the people living in the western side of the world and testifies of Jesus Christ. We believe in another book of scripture that is another testament of Christ, called the Book of Mormon, which includes the records of the people living in the Americas. Mormons believe that the Bible is supported by the Book of Mormon as both are testaments of Jesus Christ and holy scripture. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Dayna
The writings of the Book of Mormon come from prophets that lived in the Americas around the time of Jesus Christ. These prophets tell of their experience in trying live how God wanted them to live. These stories have touched and influenced my life time and time again as I relate what they went through to my life. It's a common misconception that Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon. This is not true. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from reformed Egyptian so we can feast upon the words of this holy scripture today. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Dayna
We need a Savior so we can return to live with Heavenly Father when we die and be with our family forever. The scriptures say that, "...no unclean thing can dwell with God..." (1 Nephi 10:21), so we needed a way to become clean from our humanness and sins so we could live with God after death. Jesus Christ is our savior because He went through the Atonement, which paid the price for our sins, allowing us to repent and try again. Without a Savior, we could not try again when we made mistakes. God knows that we are human, so we will mess up, and so He graciously blessed us with Jesus Christ. Since Christ paid the price for sin and hurt, we can repent to God and He can forgive that sin so we can become clean again, eventually being able to return back to Him. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Dayna
Mormons believe that the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost does not have a body. The spirit testifies of truth, warns against trouble, comforts us in times of need, and helps us recognize God's hand in our lives. The Holy Ghost to me makes me feel a fullness in my heart and warm in my chest when I know something is right. Show more Show less
