Hi I'm Maria

I'm from Georgia. I love my family. I love the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After graduating from high school and living my whole life in Georgia, I (unwanting & unwillingly) went out to BYU-Idaho. With not the best attitude, I told everyone that I came in contact with that I was just there to see what it was like and that I would be transferring back to Georgia soon. Now fast forward almost 2 & a half years, I LOVE BYU-Idaho. I found out that the people out west aren't so bad! I will come back to attend and graduate from BYU-I when I get back from my 18 month mission in Washington. I love my family. We love being together (usually). We enjoy going to the lake, skiing, wakeboarding, and having fun together! So glad I get to have them for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, and both of my parents have also been life-long members. One of my favorite things is to hear converts to the church's conversions stories. The strength and bravery that they have always amazes me, and they are such pioneers! My testimony of the gospel however, came in a much different way. It came slowly but surely. I have had the opportunity of attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I was a baby. I attended nursery, primary, and then the youth program. But it wasn't until I started to defend the church to those not of our faith who had wrong assumptions that I realized how much it mattered to me. I began bearing my testimony to others and and could feel it strengthen and grow. Attending early-morning seminary every weekday at 6am was also where I felt empowered and strengthened! The other youth in my ward brought me comfort and strength to know that we were all fighting for the right together. Since then, I have learned that through our obedience to commandments, we are blessed. Heavenly Father (like any good parent) gives us these commandments because he loves us and He wants us to return to live with him. He gives us hope and he gives us second chances...again and again. THAT's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being friends or at least friendly with everyone in the community! I think a smile is the first thing that people have in common. If you show someone a kind smile, it's so welcoming! Being a friend to someone is the greatest calling to have. Everyone should know that they are loved. By showing our love to others, they will come to know of Jesus Christ's even greater love for them.
