Hi I'm Lauryn Johnston

I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God & have been called to declare His word to the world so they may have eternal life!

About Me

I am a 19 years old born Kiwi (New Zealander) and I grew up in New Zealand's north island until I was 10 and then my family moved to Northern Utah where we've been for 9 years. We earned our American Citizenship in February of 2017! I went to an early college high school and took university courses while in my junior & senior year of school. My extracurricular activities while in school included ballet, ballroom dancing, singing, acting/theater, tennis, trail biking, and weekly temple trips with a group of high school friends to do proxy baptisms & confirmations :) I enjoy cooking, interior design, and science shows and one day hope to become a dental hygienist. My favorite movie genres are Action & Adventure and I have enjoyed movie night Tuesdays with friends for the past 2 years. I love to travel and my favorite vacation spot is an island in the south pacific called Rarotonga, Cook Islands--It's GORGEOUS! I aspire to travel & visit every temple in the U.S. in the future. Something about me that you couldn't tell just by looking at me is that I am a type 1 diabetic and was diagnosed at the age of 12. It's been a struggle and a blessing for me and it's helped me form my passion for a career in dental and eventually... medical!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because I love God! I know God gave us the true, complete, and restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and is only taught in it's fullness through His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's so wonderful to know all of the truths about God and his plan for us. It's brings me so much joy and peace to know of the complete Gospel on the earth today. What is the Gospel? The Gospel is our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness. The central doctrine of the gospel is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Gospel includes all the doctrines, principles, laws, ordinances, and covenants necessary for us to become more like our Heavenly Father and Savior and be exalted in the celestial kingdom (heaven) to live for Eternity with our families and loved ones. I am one of the happiest and luckiest people in the world to know that I am a child of God, He loves me, He sent me to earth with the purpose to learn about and follow Him, and that through the forgiving power of Jesus Christ's Atonement I can be forgiven of what I do wrong and continue improving every single day of my life. He gives me strength, hope, love, and purpose. When I am keeping God's commandments to learn, love, serve, and teach others about Him I feel peace and joy because I know it's the right thing He wants me to do. I love my God. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love the gift of the Holy Ghost to touch my heart & soul and guide me to do what's right. I've been called of God as one of His missionaries so that other people can know of His love and great plan. Living God's commandments makes me happy and keeps me safe from physical, emotional, and spiritual harm and I am blessed every day with peace, strength, forgiveness, and a closeness to my Savior and Heavenly Father each time I am obedient to God.

How I live my faith

Since my junior year of high school I have been going to the temple to help and perform proxy ordinances for my ancestors, such as baptism & confirmation by God's priesthood authority. My best friend first encouraged me to go with him an and a mutual friend one day and since then I went every single week with a group of close friends who are all now serving missions. Shortly after, I was called to be a Ward Temple & Family History Consultant and participated in indexing and Family Search projects to learn and teach how to do family history work/genealogy for my ancestors. Along with my father (who has a similar calling) I've found the names of hundreds of my ancestors through my family tree who needed their temple work done. I have LOVED it!
