Hi I'm Will

I’m a husband, a father, a Soldier, a teacher, a coach, and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married for 24 years to the love of my life and we have four great kids. I played American Football in high school and college. Before college, I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in South Korea. After earning a bachelors degree in Biology from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, I taught Biology and Chemistry and coached football at a rural high school. I was right on track with achieving all of my personal goals. Then, my goals changed as I felt a different call to serve following the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11, 2001. My wife and I prayed and received a confirmation of my call to serve as a Soldier. It was important to me that my wife receive the same confirmation as military service is a family, not an individual effort. Since that time I have served in Afghanistan and other countries throughout Asia. Our military service, although a great sacrifice, has brought us closer as a family and strengthened our faith and our relationships with our Savior and Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

It might seem obvious that I’m a Mormon given that I was born and raised in “Mormon Central” to Mormon parents. But, like everyone, I have had choices to make. I have chosen to be a Mormon because I have put my faith to the test and it has not let me down.

How I live my faith

I believe that everything I have is a gift from God. I believe that I was given those gifts to; first, find my own path back to Him and; second, help others to find their path. This gives meaning to my life. I have confidence in the meaning of my life and that the use of agency is key to success. The defense of agency gives meaning to my service as a Soldier. I believe that Christ stands ready to lessen our burdens and is calling to each of us to “come to Him.”
