Hi I'm Jessica Smith

I grew up in Anchorage Alaska. I am preparing for a mission in South Carolina. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! Currently I am attending college. I am studying English education and History education. I absolutely love it! My dream job is to be a teacher at a private school on the East Coast. I love volleyball, ballroom dancing, and being outdoors. However, I can be convinced to enjoy a good movie on the weekends. Something unique about me is that I graduated from a Private Catholic high school. I absolutely loved the experience! I have three brothers and one sister and am number four out of five. My three older siblings are all married. Two of them have children. Between the two of them I have three nieces and 3 nephews. They are all a source of my joy! Currently I am preparing to serve a mission at the end of this college semester. I am very excited for this upcoming journey!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with parents who were already members of the Church. As a child I was educated by parents who genuinely believe and live the truths that they had been taught. They brought me up with a strong mind and desire to learn. The most formative experience in my conversion to the Church was going to a local private Catholic school. I was enrolled in fifth grade and graduated as a senior. During my time there, I learned deeply of the Catholic faith through years of theology classes and participated in mass and prayers daily. Simultaneously I was also attending my own church meetings and early morning seminary. It was this close look at these two faiths that forced me at a young age to answer for myself if I believed my faith. The peace and knowledge that I received through the Holy Ghost by reading the Book of Mormon and all the principles of the Gospel testified to me that my faith was true. I was inspired to share the love and knowledge of God and his son Jesus Christ because I knew how precious this truth was. I know that this is the true gospel. I know that Heavenly Father has a marvelous and intricate plan for each of his children. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has the ability to give new life. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the earth and I know the President Thomas S Monson is the true prophet today.

How I live my faith

Since I attend a Church school, I get the opportunity to participate in church services with my fellow peers. I am one of the teachers for the women. One of the classes that take part on Sundays are separated by gender. This is the class that I get to teach. I love it because it gives me a unique chance to learn and study from the other women around me. Additionally, since I live in an apartment with five other girls I get a great chance to serve them by being their friend. As an apartment we try really hard to be good examples to each other to keep feelings of peace and refuge in our home away from home.
