Hi I'm Carl

I grew up in Washington State. I worked in pharmaceutical sales and later, owned my own business.

About Me

Living much of my life near the Olympic Mountains, I grew to love backpacking and camping. After retiring, I was trained and then volunteered as a backcountry ranger in the Olympic National Park. I've also hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington, and the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska, and Climbed Mount Whitney in California. I enjoy kayaking on the Puget Sound and lakes in Washington. My wife and I have five children and sixteen grandchildren. I have been able to do 50 mile hikes with all of my children, and love to go hiking with my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since I was young, and have learned to love its teachings and principles. As a young boy I read the Book of Mormon and felt the Spirit touch my heart, testifying that it is from God. I feel peace and joy, whenever I read this wonderful book. I have seen the Gospel of Christ change lives for the better, strengthen families, and help people through difficulties in life. It has helped me through many trying times. I know that Jesus Christ lives, loves me, and died so that I may live again, and that this Church has the truth and priesthood necessary for salvation.

How I live my faith

When I retired I started volunteering for the American Red Cross, and have been active in helping families in the community recover from home fires, floods, and storms. I was deployed by the Red Cross to disaster areas following major storms. I have also been involved in service through various callings in the Church, helping families who have suffered challenges in their lives. The Church has given me many opportunities to serve the youth through teaching and leadership positions, helping run programs and set up activities. I love to be of service to those around me.
