Hi I'm James

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I find so much peace knowing that Jesus Christ is my Savior!

About Me

I am a Stay-At-Home-Dad with a wonderful daughter of 7 years old. I am married to the best, most beautiful woman in the world. I am very happy to know that families can be together for all eternity! I enjoy photography, gardening, fishing, hiking and many other things. My deepest and most tender memories are those that I have with my family on campouts, hikes, and looking for arrowheads in the desert.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Wow! That is a deep question with many answers. After I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at age 19, I discovered in various ways that I was abused physically, sexually and ritualistically. I was in my late 20's when many pieces of a giant puzzle came together all in about 30 minutes. The following is an illustration as to how this felt. Imagine being in a room where there is room for a 5000 piece puzzle and you. Initially, the pieces are floating, tumbling in all directions, all at different heights and speeds. Suddenly, all of the pieces of the puzzle fall to the floor and arranged in perfect order. You stare at the puzzle and realize that you are looking at your life as a child in a collage of moving images, memories, daytime images, and nightmares. The grand realization came suddenly; this is my childhood! During that same year (within a few months, actually) I found out that my first wife had been unfaithful to our marriage covenants with two different men. Ouch! In the midst of all of this, I was comforted by my Savior through The Holy Ghost. I, nevertheless, experienced depression, loneliness, anxiety etc... There are so many other reasons why I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have a testimony that Jesus lives and that my Father in Heaven loves me. God, the Father, sent His Only Begotten Son from the pre-mortal world to this earth and He "grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him". Jesus turned water into wine, cast out devils, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, unstopped the ears of the deaf and raised the dead. He performed these miracles one by one and I know that the day will come when He will take "the one" and heal of all emotional and physical pain.

How I live my faith

I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at age 19. It was a very powerful experience that I wasn’t expecting. That experience has affected my life for good, better and best. This has helped me to love serving and loving others that I know and those that I don’t know. Yes, I mean family and friends and complete strangers. That’s what Jesus Christ has done for me. I love serving in the church in whatever calling is given to me. I try to make a daily practice of reading and pondering the scriptures each day. The wisdom contained in Bible, The Book of Mormon and other LDS scripture has helped me to solve some of life's most difficult questions and problems. Who am I? Where did I come from? What should I do while I am here? Is there life after death? Can I continue to progress in the next life? Knowing these answers helps me in my everyday life and will help me throughout my life as I am faithful to the covenants that I have made with my Father In Heaven. Prayer is a beautiful part of my life. I feel like I can have one-to-one conversations with my Father In Heaven and pray to Him as a child would talk with a father. As a family, we pray each night in our "spiritual moments" together. We also read scriptures before bedtime with our daughter.
